Manchester United surprised today at the beginning of the season with an incredible announcement, the identity of the player who will wear the number 7 shirt in the club next season. It is worth to say that nobody had used that shirt since Cristiano Ronaldo left and completed his exit to Al Nassr.

In this sense, there have been rumors around the potential identify of the player who would take the number this season, with many pictures on social networks, even with the fans claiming and creating pictures which mentioned that one of the best young players in the team, the Argentine attacker Alejandro Garnacho, should wear the number this season.

However, Manchester United surprised everybody among the fans with a big announcement in the last few hours, when they introduced Mason Mount with the Manchester United shirt through a video on the Red Devils’ social networks. The video has shown Mason Mount putting the Manchester United shirt on, and showing the number iconic Manchester United number 7 on his back.

The player is ready to make history

The Manchester United decision will surely disappoint Garnacho, who was the great contender to wear the number as a huge Cristiano Ronaldo fan and was willing to get the number, but it could respond to the Erik Ten Hag intentions at the club. Mason Mount had been identified as his top target and the player has been treated like that at his arrival to the club. This way, Mason Mount, becomes the first English player wearing the iconic number after Michael Owen, who became the first English player inheriting the David Beckham number in 2009.
