Liverpool’s coach Jürgen Klopp surprised the media and the fans in the last few hours as he provided the injury update on the Scottish left back Andy Robertson, who suffered a shoulder dislocation last October during a game played in Sevilla with the Scottish national team against Spain in the international break.
The German manager spoke to the media in the club’s press conference ahead of the team’s next home league game against Newcastle on the twentieth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season, where he analyzed the potential options he’ll have to cover the full backs against the Magpies.
Asked by the evolution of Andy Robertson in the last few games, Klopp confirmed bad news from the left back, revealing the problems that the Scottish player is facing with his shoulder injury. “Robbo still needs more range in his shoulder, obviously it was a big surgery; still not even close to team training”, explained Klopp.
In addition, the manager confessed that the left back still needs to gain strength in his arm, and confirmed the potential returning date for the player. “He can do a lot without using the arm properly, which is good, but on the other side it shows we still have a long way to go. For sure, I think the full January he will be out”, said Klopp.
