Liverpool legendary striker Michael Owen surprised the media and the fans by making an impressive revelation about one of the top players existing in the squad managed by Jürgen Klopp, whom the Englishman urged to give chances and develop a member of the team to replace Mohamed Salah in the next few years.

Liverpool to join Newcastle’s €40 million race for new Bruno Guimaraes

In this sense, Owen revealed that the German coach would already have in his squad a perfect replacement for Mohamed Salah in case that the Egyptian striker ends up leaving the club in the next few months following an important proposal from Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, which could be likely in case that the Saudi club sells Karim Benzema in the short term.

The player whom Owen spoke about was the Uruguayan 24-year-old striker Darwin Nunez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 for €85 million and after several months of lack of effectiveness would have blossomed as one of the crucial players for Jürgen Klopp’s squad due to his great scoring numbers.

Owen thinks that the player could be the real deal for Liverpool

“When you think of Liverpool for the future, it’s obviously not going to be with Salah forever so somebody’s going to have to step up”, said Owen, and added “Núñez is probably the one guy in the team that’s got the scope to be able to do that, I see him developing into an absolute force in the Premier League. I still think he’s not the full package yet, but he does things that absolutely blow your mind. He’s so strong, he’s so direct, he’s so quick and he’s got so much ability, if he can just brush up in certain areas he could be the real deal.”
