Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has announced he will leave Anfield at the end of the season as the club now looks to plan for his impending departure. The German boss secured yet another cup final for his team on Wednesday after avoiding a late comeback from Fulham at Craven Cottage. Luis Díaz's first-half goal booked the Reds' place in the Carabao Cup final where they will now face Chelsea on February 25 at Wembley Stadium.

Future defined, Klopp confirms what he will do after leaving Liverpool

Despite currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table, progressing to the final of the Carabao Cup and still pushing for glory in both the FA Cup and Europa League, Klopp has decided to call an end to his time at Liverpool, almost nine years after arriving as Brendan Rodgers' successor.

Speaking to the official club website, Klopp revealed the reasoning behind the decision, which came as a surprise to most people across the footballing world. "Yes, I have to. I will leave the club at the end of the season. I can understand that that’s a shock for a lot of people at this moment when you hear it for the first time, but obviously, I can explain it or at least try to explain it," he said.

"I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take. It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy.

The final comment

"I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I would have to announce it at one point, but I am fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again. "After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth and that is the truth. That’s it, pretty much."
