Liverpool get ready for the near departure of their manager Jürgen Klopp at the end of the current season, and the Reds would be running out of time to find a substitute for the German manager in the next few months.

Klopp resists, Liverpool brutal response to Man City in the race for the title

In this season, the Merseyside club would have started to make plans to rebuild the sporting direction area of the institution, which they believe seem to be strengthen and improved to present an elite project to the different managers tracked in the market, among whom Xabi Alonso seems to be the preferring option of Liverpool’s dirigeants and fans.

In this sense, the Reds would have prepared a list of six potential candidates to fill the position of sporting director of the club, and the Fenway Sports Group representatives would take their final decision on it before the season ends.

The wishlist of Liverpool would be headed by Paul Mitchell, the 42-year-old who has caught eyes at Southampton, Tottenham, RB Leipzig and more recently Monaco, while Bournemouth technical director Richard Hughes, who was reported as a “primary candidate” by BBC Sport last month, and Aston Villa president of football operations Monchi could be also in the race.

A great Klopp enemy is on the list

On the list could also be found West Ham’s current technical director Tim Steidten, who would have been contacted by Liverpool in the summer but would have rejected the option as he wouldn’t want to work under Klopp’s management. Finally, the main option at this moment could be the ex Bayer Leverkusen player Simon Rolfes, who could be a great option to convince Xabi Alonso to join the Reds in the summer.
