Liverpool's new season has just started and the players are willing to accept the challenge of taking the club back to its glory days. The squad ended last season disappointed with the performance they offered to the fans and they have sent as a goal in the season being leading all the competitions they play.

One of the players who weren’t at their best level was the Uruguayan striker Darwin Nuñez, who played 42 games with Liverpool, scoring only 15 goals, which is very far from the numbers that impressed Liverpool to pay 80 million for him in 2022. The striker has struggled at Liverpool due to his difficulties to get accustomed to the Premier League and Jürgen Klopp’s style of play at the club.

However, the German coach has had no doubt in showing his confidence in Darwin, whom he expects can lead Liverpool's forward line in the next few years. In that sense, Klopp has given a surprise to the Liverpool fans and the player himself, by giving him the iconic Liverpool number 9 shirt for this season.

Darwin gets ready to go back to his best shape

The Uruguayan striker has shown his happiness on social media, as he will wear a special number in Liverpool history, worn in the old times by the Liverpool’s Top Scorer in history, Ian Rush. In that sense, Darwin accepted the challenge of going back to his best shape, and showing in Liverpool the numbers he offered in Benfica, where he scored 34 goals in 41 games played.
