Brentford’s coach Thomas Frank surprised the fans and the media in the last few hours, as he revealed to be living a dramatic situation in the squad amid their next visit to Liverpool on the twelfth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season, as he could face up to nine absences to face the Reds in the next few hours.
In this sense, despite having won their three last games and being currently placed at the ninth position of the Premier League table with 16 points ahead of Chelsea and just behind Brighton and Newcastle, Brentford’s coach would be living hard hours before facing the Reds, and he would be trying to compose a competitive lineup to surprise Liverpool in Anfield.
Before the squad’s trip to Merseyside, the manager confirmed in the club’s pregame press conference that he had positive news for the fans after recovering some important players, but admitted that the team could still have nine absences for the game against the Reds. In this respect, despite recovering the goalkeeper Mark Flekken, Shandon Baptiste and Myles Peart-Harris could be included in the squad but they would not be expected to play from the start.
In addition, Keane Lewis-Potter and Josh Dasilva trained this week, but they won’t travel with the team, while Mikkel Damsgaard hasn’t completed his recovery either. In this sense, Kevin Schade would be on the track, but neither he nor Aaron Hickey would be available until 2024, while Rico Henry isn’t expected to return until September and Ivan Toney remains absent as he still serves his ban after breaching FA betting rules.
