Brighton got an important 2-3 win against Nottingham Forest in City Ground on the thirteenth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season to remain ahead of Manchester United, who must win their next away game against Everton to overtake the competitive Roberto de4 Zerbi’s Seagulls on the league table.
Manchester United former player Anthony Elanga opened the scoring for Nottingham Forest over Brighton at the 3rd minute with a header to the rival far post after a great assist by Gibbs-White from the right wing. 23 minutes later, the visitors got the equalizer with a goal by Evan Ferguson, who netted his sixth goal of the season with the Seagulls with a soft right footed shot to the far post.
Joao Pedro extended the lead for the visitors at the 49th with a header after being assisted by Pascal Gross, and from the start of the second half, when Roberto de Zerbi gave entry to Buonanotte, Brighton took the dominance and the control of the game, and Joao Pedro scored the third goal for the Seagulls at the 58th converting a penalty.
Precisely with another penalty, Gibbs-White reduced distances for the locals at the 76th, and they went aggressively to the attack with the clear goal of equalizing the game. Brighton got another chance at the 85th through a header by Van Hecke that wasn't successful. The ten minutes of stoppage given by the referee boosted the hope of the locals of getting the equalizer, but Brighton resisted until the end their attacks and sealed an important victory to remain close to the European positions of the Premier League table.
