Manchester United’s coach Erik Ten Hag surprised the media and the fans during the club’s press conference ahead of their next game against Copenhagen in the Parken Stadium on the fourth day of the 2023/2024 Champions League group stage, where the Red Devils need a win to remain with options to qualify for the next phase of the competition.
The Dutchman, whose team will present several changes due to the latest injuries suffered in the squad, spoke precisely about two important players who have remained out of the squad due to strong injuries and he provided an injury update on them revealing the expected returning date for them according to the club’s medical experts.
The players in question are the Brazilian midfielder Casemiro and the Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez, two key players for the squad that would be out of the team until next year according to the words expressed by the Dutchman in the press conference, where he said not knowing the exact game to have them back but he explained that the club does not expect the players to be back in the squad before Christmas.
As understood from Ten Hag’s words, Manchester United will keep on having problems in the midfield and the defense, and it would be expected that Harry Maguire could cover the absence of Lisandro Martinez, while at the midfield Eriksen and Scott McTominay would be in charge of covering the absence of Casemiro, with Amrabat and the young star Kobbie Mainoo likely to also make an impact on the position for the next few months.
