Liverpool’s coach Jürgen Klopp surprised the media and the fans with the lineup he set for the game where the Reds visited Crystal Palace in Selhurst Park on the sixteenth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season, a game where the Reds need a win to jump to the top three of the league in their battle against Arsenal, who will face a difficult away game this week against Aston Villa.
The Reds presented a team with Wataru Endo as their defensive midfielder alongside Szoboszlai and Gravenberch, once Alexis Mac Allister remained out of the squad for a cut suffered against Sheffield United last Wednesday. The other main news in the lineup was the inclusion of Quansah in the defense to cover the long term absence of Joel Matip due to an ACL which will force him to lose the rest of the season.
In addition, Jürgen Klopp finally counted on Alisson Becker for the game against the Eagles after the goalkeeper was absent from the last two compromises of the Reds, who included several young stars of their academy in the traveling squad to South London such as McDonnell and Bradley.
Liverpool need a victory in Selhurst Park to keep on fighting for the league, which the Reds will try to do with the following lineup: Allison; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Quansah, Tsimikas; Szoboszlai, Endo, Gravenberch; Salah, Nunez, Diaz. On the bench, Jürgen Klopp will have the following players: Kelleher, Gomez, Konate, Jones, Gakpo, Elliott, Doak, McDonnell, Bradley.
