Arsenal made a good signing last summer, and with that they were able to compete fiercely in the Premier League. Despite the situation of Manchester City's comeback to snatch the title from them, the London side has a good future for the top competition in Europe.

Mikel Arteta has been blamed for this situation. A number of fans and the specialist press have told him that his lukewarmness may have been the reason why the team slumped in recent games, and the defeat to Josep Guardiola's City gave him the space to snatch the trophy from them.

The Spanish coach is already analysing his next signings for the UEFA Champions League. The closest is Declan Rice, who has been wanted by Bayern Munich, but they have dropped out of the race because of the English midfielder's high price tag. West Ham are expecting more than £80m to let him go.

And to do that they have to sell players on loan. One in particular was one of last seasons failed signings, and in French football he is still lacking the desired consistency, so Arteta would be willing to sell him in this summer market.

Who is the player Arteta doesn't want at Arsenal?

The Telegraph reports that Nicolas Pepé, who currently plays for Ligue One team Nice, does not want Arteta even though he is due to return from his loan spell. His signing cost 80 million euros and was not what was expected. The Gunners want to get something out of this investment before the Frenchman becomes a free player for next year, as well as lowering the wage bill a little due to the Financial Fair Play issue.
