The changes are not going to stop at Manchester United. Although their idea is to strengthen the team for the UEFA Champions League, they know that it will be difficult to get a world star without convincing them that they can be a powerful team.
Erik ten Hag has to make a thorough analysis of what he needs. And he is targeting the goalkeeping area, where they believe goalkeeper David de Gea is no longer up to the task, as he was in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, where his mistakes led to a painful defeat.
But the directors have made a strange decision and have sold what would have been the perfect replacement for the Spanish goalkeeper. Something he had been promised for a long time and it may make him furious. He believes that they cannot play with his future in his career in this way.
For the time being, he feels disappointed and would be looking for United to let him go to look for better opportunities in a team that can value him much better in his performance, as well as looking to be a major player in the Premier League.
Dean Henderson was lined up to take De Gea's place. He was loaned out to Nottingham Forest and had an outstanding year. But United's board are looking to loan him out to another team and, with that, their frustration would be compounded by not letting him compete against David de Gea.
