If you take Josep Guardiola to your team and you have enough human and economic material, he is going to make you bigger than you are. Manchester City knew this since his arrival in 2016 and, after five years of rebuilding and failures, they were able to lift the UEFA Champions League title.
It was the only trophy the Spaniard had been denied in his time with the Citizens. Patience was running out for the board, but they did not give him a real ultimatum to achieve that long-awaited triumph. What they did give him were incredible signings that pushed him hard to be among the best in Europe.
Above all, the arrival of Erling Haaland is fundamental for the comeback in the Premier League, the triumph in the FA Cup and the victory in the final of the UEFA Champions League, where they beat Inter Milan at the Atatürk Stadium by the minimum difference and managed to put on the name of the best team on the planet.
But it will all come to an end sooner or later. Guardiola has already set an exit date for the Citizens and his future is not as clear as it seems. Therefore, the tactician will have a lot to meditate on whether he wants to have a well-deserved rest or take a challenge that could be more demanding for the next few years.
Marca newspaper has just published the information that Josep Guardiola would not intend to renew his contract in 2025 and would leave the team for that season. The Spaniard signed an extension last November, but that would be the last one with which he commits to manage the brand new European champions.
