Bad news has come up in the Manchester United universe in the last few hours, as one of the United most beloved legends has been reported to be in intensive care after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage while he was on vacation at Split in Croatia, generating worries among the football fans in all the world, as one of their idols seems to be in trouble.
We talk about the Dutch goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar, a legend among the Manchester United goalkeepers in history, being in fact the idol and main inspiration of David De Gea, the goalkeeper with more clean sheets in United history. Van der Sar used to be policy maker at Ajax, before he took the decision to step down on June 1. The former goalkeeper of the Dutch national team and the general manager of the Amsterdam club in Croatia, who resigned earlier this year, is indeed now being treated by doctors, with the 24 hours identified as crucial in these cases by the doctors.
The ex-international had said on May 30 that he was completely "finished" after months of criticism. “I now need to distance myself, relax and do other things,” said Van der Sar. The sporting problems at Ajax, which had a lesser season and where he also had to say goodbye to his companion and co-director Marc Overmars after his transgressive behavior, were eating at him. It caused a lot of stress for the man, who had also helped Ajax to many successes as a player and as a director.
According to the Dutch press, this is the second time that the Van der Sar family has been hit. In December 2009, almost fourteen years ago, his wife Annemarie suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. That happened during the period that Van der Sar was under the bar at Manchester United. In this sense, Manchester United fans have started to send messages and their best wishes for their legend, as everybody among the football fans desire Van Der Sar to recover soon.
