Only football can give the fairest revenge. The joys and sorrows that are created in this sport make the stories that are forged in its atmosphere so emotional that the fans do not control their joy. This is the case with Claudio Ranieri and his career that has taken too many twists and turns.
Ranieri touched the sky in the Premier League in the 2015-16 season with Leicester City. A team that had little in the way of promotion, he managed to beat the country's big boys and establish himself in the best league on the planet. Many applauded the Italian manager for the great momentum of the likes of Jamie Vardy and N'Golo Kanté.
But in 2017, the board decided that the veteran coach was no longer fit for the club he had given everything to. A story he already knew, as in 2003 he left Chelsea through the back door, exactly at the arrival of Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich, who did not like the way Ranieri played.
At the age of 71, Ranieri is back on the front pages of the newspapers. Now with a modest team that was in 14th place in the second half of the season and reached the play-offs for promotion from Serie A, where he surprised everyone by giving them a ticket to the country's top flight.
Cagliari returned to Serie A under Claudio Ranieri. They defeated Bari with a last-minute goal to clinch the last ticket to the top flight. 30 years after he had achieved the same with this team. It is curious that Leicester City lost the category this season and will have to play in the Championship.
