Chelsea’s coach Mauricio Pochettino spoke in a club’s press conference and analyzed the latest events around the team ahead of their next game against the promoted club Luton Town in the Blues second game in Stamford Bridge in the 2023/2024 Premier League season.
In this sense, it is worth remembering that Chelsea will arrive to the game with only one point scored in two games of this season, after drawing against Liverpool and being defeated against West Ham last week, which has made Chelsea to received strong critics after their new owner Todd Boehly having spent an amount closer to €1 billion in transfers since his arrival last year.
One of the transfers made in this period was the Ukrainian 22-year-old striker Mikailo Mudryk, who arrived last January from Shakhtar Donetsk for €70 million and has not scored for the Blues yet after 19 games played with the team. The young player would be called to be a future star for the club, and Mauricio Pochettino had to defend him from the media criticism in the last Chelsea’s press conference.
The Argentine coach, who has not placed the Ukrainian player in his lineup in his first two games with Chelsea this season, did not hesitate to highlight the quality of the player. “He’s a young player and a player that has a lot of talent”, Pochettino told the English journal Evening Standard. 'I think he needs to build his continuity and trust with his team-mates, work hard in the training sessions during the week and continue to show he is ready to perform”, said the Argentine coach.
