Darwin Nuñez gets ready for his second season at Liverpool, which could be very challenging for him. The Uruguayan striker played 42 games last season with the Reds, scoring only 15 goals, which is far away from his numbers at Benfica, which allowed him to sign with the Reds for €80 million.

In this sense, Darwin’s main goal will be recovering his best performance at Benfica, where he was able to score 34 goals in 41 games, numbers which the Uruguayan striker is confident to project at Liverpool. Despite not having had many strong performances, the Uruguayan player has been able to shine with the team, scoring in great matches such as the one against Manchester United.

At the moment, Darwin has received the confidence of his coach Jürgen Klopp and the Anfield’s institution, since he has received the Liverpool’s number 9 shirt for this year, which will allow him to replace Bobby Firmino but also wearing one of the most iconic numbers in the club, which has seen top strikers such as Ian Rush, the top scorer in Liverpool’s history.

The player started the preseason responding to his great responsibility

In that sense, Darwin has started the preseason responding to that responsibility, and the Uruguayan striker was one of the best on the pitch against Greuther Fürth, being brilliant during all the game, performing great combinations with Mohamed Salah,  and scoring a double with the Reds, which is a good start for the Uruguayan to definitely conquer a place in Jürgen Klopp’s line up and maybe in the club’s history.
