Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland achieved an important 2-1 win for Manchester City

Manchester City achieved an important 2-1 victory over Brighton in the Etihad Stadium on the ninth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season, in a game where the Citizen knew to be totally dominant in their midfield, well controlled by John Stones and Rodri, who returned to the team against the Seagulls.

The Citizen opened the scoring at the 7th minute with a goal by Julian Alvarez, and only 12 minutes later,  Erling Haaland returned to score and sealed his ninth goal in nine games in the league with the Sky Blues. In less than half an hour of game, the Citizens were totally dominant in the result, which made everyone think about an easy win for them.

However, the visitors would have still much more to say in the game, and Roberto de Zerbi gave entry to Veltman, Gilmour and Fati during the second half, which revolutionized the Seagulls’ play and they got their first goal of the game through Fati in an excellent counterattack led by Mitoma and ended by the former Barcelona player.

The Citizen remain alive in the race for the title

With the visitors on the verge of scoring a second goal to achieve the equalizer, Manchester City knew how to control the game and resist the attempts of their rival, and the Citizen could seal their victory to remain on the top of the league and alive in the race for the Premier League title.
