Kobbie Mainoo was one of the big names in the friendly game between Manchester United and Real Madrid, since the English player got injured at the second minute of the game, which slightly changed the plans for Erik Ten Hag in the rest of the game.
The 18-year-old player got injured in a complex action where a Casemiro foul on Rodrygo ended up with the Brazilian striker falling on Mainoo, who received the impact of the player’s fall and got an ankle injury, which forced him to go out of the pitch, getting replaced by Christian Eriksen.
The Mainoo’s exit changed the plans for Erik Ten Hag, who had used the English wonderkid in four of the five games the club has played in this preseason, performing really well and making the fans get excited in every game he has played until the moment.
Despite not having concrete information about the injury status, Mainoo left the stadium on crutches and everybody at the club expects he suffers an ankle injury, which could have the player out of the rest of the preseason USA Tour, but he would hopefully be ready to face Lens and Athletic Bilbao in the last friendly games of the United’s preseason or the beginning of the next Premier League season. In addition, it is worth to say that Scott McTominay also needed treatment in his knee after the game but the ache wasn’t reported as serious by the United medicals.
