The new Manchester United project will be based on the improvement Erik Ten Hag is demanding for the team. The Dutchman has already publicly expressed to want only elite players in his team and he is trying to achieve his goal as he considers it the main step to be given by the club to take the institution back to its glory days.

In that sense, Manchester United has already completed the arrival of Mason Mount, from Chelsea. The English international was a top target for Ten Hag, who sees in the Mount’s versatility, experience and quality the main characteristics he is looking for in any potential signing. Another Ten Hag request has been the signing of the goalkeeper Andre Onana, from Inter Milan. The Dutchman is confident of being able to increase the level of the team’s play with his arrival and he is determined to do whatever it is to take Onana to Old Trafford.

In this sense, the negotiations between Inter and Manchester United are ongoing, with Inter asking for at least €50 million for the player and Manchester United offering only €40 million. The situation has remained stalled in the last few hours, but everything could change very soon thanks to the Ten Hag and Onana determination to be in the same team as they used to do at Ajax.

A potential agreement worries De Gea

Last week, Ten Hag rejected the possibility of renewing De Gea, as he has been decided to take Onana as soon as the possibility appeared. The Cameroonian player’s ability with the ball on his feet fits the profile of goalkeeper that Erik Ten Hag wants for the team, and he has already had several talks with Onana about the potential goalkeeper’s role in the Manchester United project for next year.

Asked to give a step forward in the negotiations, everything seems closer for Onana. According to Skysports, Ten Hag pressure has made Manchester United to reconsider their offer, and the Mancunian club could be ready to increase his initial offer to €45 million, closer than the €50 million required by Inter. The new offer could make Inter accept the deal, which would end with De Gea without any option to resign for Manchester United and Onana as their new goalkeeper.
