Manchester City are getting prepared for an intense and extremely challenging new season, while Pep Guardiola, still on vacation, is already planning the next steps to follow to perfect his team with absolute elite players from the best European clubs.

In that sense, the Catalan coach has already replaced the exit of Gundogan with the arrival of Matheo Kovacic from Chelsea, but there is still a lot of work to do. Guardiola is looking to improve the defense and the midfield being opened to make a move in case an market opportunity appears.

According to the British media, Manchester City currently have the financial capacity to make at least two major investments without breaking with the UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations, and the Citizens could be ready to pull the trigger on making the next signings.

Real Madrid could be open to selling the player

Following the British media sources, Manchester City could already have identified Fede Valverde from Real Madrid as their new target to improve the team’s midfield. In this sense, Guardiola appreciates the versatility shown by the Uruguayan 24-year-old player and his quality in defense and attack, characteristics which could fit very well in his current Manchester City.

Valverde is valued at £70M - £90M and the expensive arrival of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid could make the Spanish team sell the player in case of receiving a convenient offer. At the moment the Citizens haven’t made any move for the player but they could be close to starting talks with Real Madrid and Valverde in the next few weeks according to the British media.
