More problems could be in store for Mauricio Pochettino in the coming days. As well as there being no guarantee that he can bring in quality signings for the amount of money the club has spent in recent months, he will now have to put up with big offers for his best players.

Kai Havertz, one of the Blues' most promising young players, is being negotiated to go to Real Madrid after Karim Benzema duped them into thinking he could stay and negotiated a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad for a hefty salary and earnings.

The Frenchman took compatriot N'Golo Kante with him to keep him company in the Middle East. Mauricio Pochettino, aware of the situation and with the analysis that he no longer needed the midfielder, had the perfect understudy within the institution and that he was going to have the undisputed starter next season.

But it could all fall apart because of Manchester City and Josep Guardiola. The new FA Cup winners and UEFA Champions League finalists, who will play this weekend, do not want to be left behind with new additions, and would be armouring themselves if Ílkay Gündogan does not renew his contract with the Citizens.

British media claim that Mateo Kovacic is the midfielder that Guardiola has liked the most to replace Gündogan if he does not sit down to negotiate before the end of June. A blow for Pochettino, who saw the Croatian as a natural understudy to Kanté and a good duo with Enzo Fernández.
