The player could face a sensational season with Liverpool

Author of a more than mixed season last year, Darwin Nunez must achieve a much better 2023-2024 financial year to meet the hopes placed in him last summer. And several arguments could point in this direction, assuring that there is still a reason to trust in the definitive success of the Uruguayan 24-year-old player with the Liverpool number 9 shirt.

In this sense, it is worth remembering that Darwin Nunez arrived to Liverpool for €80 million from Benfica last season, after performing a wonderful season with the Portuguese club, and surprise the football fans with good performances in Champions League such as his game against FC Barcelona where he scored a goal as a visitor to help Benfica to drop the Catalan team from the competition.

Since his arrival to Liverpool, Darwin Nunez has been compared to Erling Haaland, who arrived to Manchester City for €60 million, and this season he will be compared to Rasmus Hojlund, who arrived this summer to Manchester United for €85 million. However, there could be a reason to still believe in the Uruguayan striker's success with Liverpool, since his numbers this last season were very similar to that he had  in Benfica before his definitive revelation as a top striker.

The Darwin Nunez numbers could reveal that his success at Liverpool is very close

According to the Nunez stats, he arrived to Benfica in the summer of 2020 from Almeria, and his first season with the Portuguese club was similar to the one in Liverpool: 44 games with Benfica and 45 with the Reds, 14 goals against 15 with Liverpool last season. A similarity that portends great things for his second season in England, since during his second and last exercise in Lisbonne he scored 34 goals in 41 games, a spectacular story which now could be repeated in Liverpool this season.
