The Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag could have received bad news about his dream goalkeeper in the last few hours. After the David De Gea departure from the club, Ten Hag was totally convinced of the possibility to sign Andre Onana, from Inter Milan, for whom the coach had asked a big effort to the club, who could be finding some troubles to satisfy the Dutchman's wishes.
In the last few days, Manchester United started the talks with Inter Milan about Onana, identified as the top priority goalkeeper for the Dutch coach. However, the negotiations aren't as easy as expected. After having a bid worth €45 million including add-ons turned down, the Mancunian team returned right away with a new offer. Their second bid was for €50 million and according to the Italian journal La Gazzetta dello Sport, this was still not enough.
Inter have yet to accept a bid from the Red Devils, who could be considering to give Erik Ten Hag another option in case the negotiations with Inter don’t come to terms. In this sense, the Dutchman could be very disappointed with how things are happening, as he considers Onana as a key part of his project at United.
Erik Ten Hag asked the club for Andre Onana as his main option to be United’s new goalkeeper, as the Dutchman wants to have a goalkeeper consistent enough with the ball in his feet as a part of his style of play, where the relevance of the ball possession would increase. However, the Ten Hag plans could be turned down and the club could be ready to offer his coach the possibility of counting on Dean Henderson as the main goalkeeper in the team in case Manchester United and Inter Milan don’t get an agreement for Andre Onana. This possibility could have appeared at the club regarding how things will happen in the next few hours, which could have strongly disappointed the Ten Hag, who could still be insisting on Onana until the negotiations are totally broken.
