Erik Ten Hag is desperate to sign a new striker to lead the United’s forward line this season. The Dutchman looks for a replacement to fill the number 9 role with a man able to hold the ball and make his own shot out and outside the box, and he is targeting several players to fit that position.

In this sense, Manchester United has already advanced talks with Atalanta to sign the Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, who completed 16 goals with the Italian team last season and is very appreciated by Ten Hag because of his great scope to improve, his height and his quality with and without the ball.

However, Rasmus Hojlund could not be the only striker to arrive to United and Erik Ten Hag could be targeting more players to add to his attack, as Rasmus could fill the place left by Weghorst as a big man in the front, but another striker could be needed as Anthony Martial has been inconsistent and Greenwood’s future is still in the air. In this sense, Erik Ten Hag would have already sent Benfica a proposal for the striker Gonçalo Ramos, that was immediately rejected.

Benfica will be a tough negotiator

According to the British media, Manchester United could have sent a proposal to Benfica for Ramos, consisting of a cash plus Alex Telles bid, which was immediately rejected by the Portuguese team. As reported in the Portuguese press, Benfica values Ramos at a price close to €80 million, and they will be a tough negotiator, but United's race to sign Gonçalo Ramos has just started.
