Despite a good beginning of pre-season, Manchester United has some problems to complete the squad with the level his coach Erik Ten Hag wants. The Dutchman has asked for elite players, as he wants to increase the squad level to the highest football standards, and as he himself had already said in a press conference, it would take a lot of money and a great investment.

In this sense, Manchester United is struggling to sign several players the manager wants and negotiations are usually stalled with United not satisfying the demands of a very high priced transfer market. Currently, the Mancunian club is struggling to complete the signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, one of the Erik Ten Hag top targets for the team’s forward line.

The 20-year-old Danish player has been identified as a very clear target, as his height and quality with and without the ball convinced Manchester United, but Atalanta could have asked United for a price that the Mancunian institution barely could reach right now. In this sense, according to the English journal The Athletic, Atalanta would be asking for £85.5 million for the transfer of Rasmus Hojlund.

Following the Athletic sources, Manchester United could not afford the price asked by Atalanta, and would have already offered some players in part-exchange for Rasmus Hojlund during talks with Atalanta, being Amad Diallo and Mason Greenwood some of the players who have been reported in that offer, while the Italian club remains at the moment reluctant to accept anything but the price set for the player.
