Not many players can turn down a move to a historic club. Some make that kind of decision and then pay for it in a very expensive way. And this has happened to a talented midfielder who preferred short-lived fame to staying at a club that wanted him badly.
Omari Hutchinson had his first steps in the Gunners' youth team. He was a great goalscorer and it seemed that Mikel Arteta had him in his sights to be with the senior team soon. But something hadn't clicked for him and he preferred to move on.
Chelsea made him a big offer and he had a promise from Graham Potter to be considered for the starting line-up. However, the revolution in the Blues' squad meant that Hutchinson was forgotten and relegated to playing in the lower divisions.
Now, with no chance of convincing Mauricio Pochettino, the 19-year-old England striker is in trouble with his career. He will be overlooked and his fate is now likely to be worse than what the Gunners would have offered him.
There are already offers from Championship clubs with Omari Hutchinson. The Jamaican still had an offer from Arsenal, but has closed the door by confirming he wanted to stay at Chelsea. But they are already listening to offers from this lower division to make the sale definitive.
