Manchester United’s coach Erik Ten Hag would have been surprised with bad news in the last few hours, once it would have been confirmed the injury suffered by the Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez, who will have to get a surgery in the next few days and would remain out of the team for a long period of time.
In this sense, it is worth remembering that the player suffered a metatarsal fracture last season in the UEFA Europa League quarter finals against Sevilla FC, and the player would have been recovering from the injury until last July, when he started to train with his teammates again, getting ready to make a great impact on this season.
However, according to the latest information given by the Italian journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine defender’s foot injury would not have healed correctly, and after suffering pain in the last game played against Arsenal in the Emirates Stadium before the international break, he would have took painkillers to play in the games against Brighton and Bayern Munchen, following a treatment for the player that would not have worked out.
Following the Romano sources, Lisandro Martínez would then undergo surgery again, in which it would be his second operation on his broken metatarsal. In this sense, it would take place next week, as confirmed by the English journalist Chris Wheeler from Daily Mail, after which Lisandro would need to still complete around two or three months of stop before returning to play for Manchester United.
