The Uruguayan striker wasn’t able to score against the Hammers

Darwin Nunez didn’t have his best day as a Liverpool striker in the game facing the Reds against West Ham for the Carabao Cup quarterfinals in Anfield, as the Uruguayan striker had two clear chances he couldn’t finish for the Reds, ending his game against the Hammers scoreless and with a bittersweet taste after the team’s 5-1 win without his goals.

The Uruguayan 24-year-old, who has scored only a goal in three games of the Carabao Cup this season, wasn’t able to extend his scoring account despite having great chances against the Hammers, who suffered the great intensity developed by the Reds during the game and the effectiveness of their strikers with the main exception of Darwin.

In this sense, the Uruguayan striker saw how his teammates Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Gakpo and Salah scored against the East London team and he wasn’t able to net the clear chances he got to do it, with two opportunities -both in the second half- to improve his numbers in the competition.

The player had two clear chances to score

The first chance was at the 63rd minute of the game, when Trent Alexander-Arnold sent a crossed ball inside the box, which went under the legs of the striker, who wasn’t able to connect a shot to finish the play in front of the keeper; and the second was at the 80th, when he went into the box and hit the far post to complete a night to forget for Liverpool’s number nine in front of his public.
