Manchester City could make history in the upcoming UEFA Champions League final. Josep Guardiola's side could win the 'triplete' that would make them one of the most successful teams in the football story of the Citizens. Which has all the fans on that side of Manchester excited.
But the Spanish coach also knows he has to look after his players methodically. He cannot afford to lose such important players on the fringes of such a defining moment in City's history. One mistake could define what is to come at the weekend in Europe's top competition.
But the alarm bells are going off. The training sessions have indicated that, although Guardiola is keeping a close eye on them, one player who has been key to winning the title is in doubt because of a long-standing injury that has plagued him for several years.
For the time being, they have already paid more attention to players like Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, so that nothing happens to them and they are ready to face Inter Milan next Saturday in Istanbul, Turkey. This would be his second chance to win the long-awaited trophy.
Several media outlets have reported that Kyle Walker is suffering from a back injury and has had to come off in cotton wool, so a medical assessment will have to show whether the 33-year-old defender is ready to be in Guardiola's starting line-up.
