Manchester United has started the preseason and Harry Maguire is one of the big names in the summer for the Red Devils. The English defender is expected to leave the club in the transfer market as he is among the players appearing on the Erik Ten Hag selling list. However, the player could be trying to change his role in the team during these first days of pre-season.

Maguire has recently lost the captain armband at the squad, as his coach Erik Ten Hag decided not to count on him as a club captain. The Dutchman is not convinced about Maguire's performances despite last season he got some minutes of play in Europa League, where the player disappointed the coach after making some big errors on the pitch.

The English defender seems to be destined to exit from United this summer, but he could have decided to fight for his options to stay. According to the British media, Harry Maguire has been training 3 times a day for 3 weeks, and he has been spending time training one on one with the ex player Ricardo Carvalho.

His high price could help him

Despite not considering the player for the Erik Ten Hag team, Manchester United won’t give Maguire for free. The Mancunian club spent €87 million on his transfer from Leicester in 2020, and they will try to lose as little money as possible. The current valuation for the player is at least €50, and it will be difficult for Manchester United to find teams willing to pay that much.
